236. The Facts About the Hurumzi Hotel

The Emmerson and Green hotel is one of the most well-known in Zanzibar, and it’s a great place to stay during a Tanzania safari. In the past, this was a must-stay for all Tanzania vacations. The hotel changed its name to 236 Hurumzi after Mr. Emmerson and Mr. Green broke up as business partners, but it has kept its original look and feel.

It looks like it was made in Zanzibar, with local materials and decorations used everywhere. The hotel has 4 floors and corridors that are set up in a way that looks like a maze. As you walk around this mezzanine-style hotel, you’ll find a number of small patios with views of the town. There are two different kinds of rooms here.

Simple rooms and studios. Each one is different, and the basic rooms are bigger. You can choose between the Kidude restaurant and the Tower Top restaurant. The Tower Top restaurant is better known for its views of the town from all sides.
