The Manta Resort. The Manta Resort is a cheap camp in the middle of nowhere on the northern tip of the island of Pemba. People come here to dive and get away from the busy island of Zanzibar. A simple lodge that still has a beach that isn’t too busy and great places to swim.
The Truth About Manta Resort
Pemba is an island off the coast of Tanzania, just north of Zanzibar. The village is in the north of Pemba. From Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam, the only way to get here is by small plane. Chake Chake, the center of Pemba, is about a two-hour drive from the Lodge.
The main part of the lodge has a great view of the Indian Ocean to the northwest. All meals are served on the main porch or under the big thatched roof structure. There are 17 rooms in all, with 6 superior rooms facing the beach, 4 superior rooms with garden views, and 7 garden view rooms. The pool is a good size, and there is a dive center with its own beach where you can go on trips to the many great dive spots nearby. This is a great place for a honeymoon in Tanzania.
At the end of a Tanzania safari, the Manta Resort is the right place to relax. It’s also a great spot to take in this beautiful, remote island.
The Room Under the Water
When you stay at Manta, you can spend the night in their one-of-a-kind underwater room for a thrilling adventure… It really is what it says it is… This bedroom that floats off the coast isn’t good for people who get seasick, but it is a unique experience to sleep below the sea instead of under the stars… From the room, you can see a lot of fish, which makes for very interesting Pemba TV.
Most people would sleep here, but you can also relax on the top deck, which has a double mattress and a great view of the stars. As there are steep steps to get to bed under the sea, it might not be a good idea for people who get seasick or aren’t steady on their feet. But if you’re still interested.
