Bawe is the best place to stay in the area, except for the private Mnemba Island, which is more naked. It is on 90 hectares of land off the coast of Zanzibar. If you like luxury, this hotel is the best there is. It won’t give you safari-style closeness, but it will give you luxury like no other.

What You Need to Know About Bawe Island

Bawe is all about peace and quiet. Its 70 houses are in a peaceful area 10 km off the coast of Stone Town, which can be reached in just 15 minutes by speedboat. It couldn’t be easier to get there from many east African safari spots.

The decor in each wooden house is soft and natural, with stone floors, light wooden furniture, and a simple layout. There are different types of villas, such as Sunset Suites on the west side of the island and Lagoon Suites that look out over the clear seas of the Maldives.

All of the villas, no matter what type, have their own private pool and butler service. This hotel has more amenities than most in the Zanzibar island. It also has a place for helicopters to rest, just in case.

The main area has four different restaurants that offer a “dine around” concept that is popular with the classiest resorts in the Indian Ocean.

While staying in a bigger hotel might not make you feel like you’re at home, Bawe has a lot of things to do on site, such as a dive center, watersports point, spa, kids’ club, gym, and yoga patio.

Overall, Bawe has a lot of services and beautiful white sand beaches in a great spot. But it costs a lot because of all of this. So you should give it some thought before you go outside of Zanzibar’s main island attractions. Still, this is a pretty good solution if you want a piece of the Maldives just a stone’s throw away from Zanzibar.
