Oyster Bay Hotel. The best place to stay in Dar es Salaam is Oyster Bay. In contrast to most Dar hotel airports, this one has only 8 rooms. The service and food are great. The rooms are huge and a nice change after a safari or a long trip. The Oyster Bay isn’t cheap, and most people only stay there for one or two nights. If you want to save money, we suggest staying at one of the bigger airport hotels, like the Royal Palm.

The Bottom Line on Oyster Bay

Oyster Bay is on the coast of Dar es Salaam, close to the embassies and in a very nice area. It takes about 35 minutes to drive to the airport, but if traffic is bad, it might take a little longer. The lucky site also lets you see the sea. It’s the most exclusive place to stay in Dar es Salaam, and only people who can afford any kind of Tanzania vacation can stay there!

A big door from Zanzibar goes into the hotel and into a large reception room. On the left is a huge living room, and on the right is an open eating area with a very long teak table. There are big sliding doors that lead to a colonial-style veranda that runs along one side of the property and has views of the swimming pool and large gardens.

The eight rooms are very fancy and have great views of the coast. There is a living room with a couch and TV in each room, as well as a big, modern bathroom. There are small balconies that open up, but because of the strong air conditioning, this outdoor area is rarely used.

There are trips to the market, the museum, and stores that can all be planned at the front desk.
