Zuri Zanzibar Hotel and Resort
Zuri Zanzibar Hotel and Resort. What We Think. The Zuri Zanzibar Hotel and Resort is different from other hotels in Zanzibar. It’s big enough to be called a hotel, but with only 56 suites, rooms, and villas spread out over its beautiful grounds and beach, it gives off an air of confident luxury and glitz. All of the areas are big, bold, and well-designed for stylish comfort. They also come in a range of choices and price points to meet the needs and budgets of different people.
Zuri Zanzibar Hotel and Resort: What You Need to Know
This beach is in a great spot, on one of the least wet and softest stretches of sand on the northern coast. The beach is a bit crowded with strange Zanzibari football games and wandering Maasai, but the hotel extends the sandy stretch back so you can enjoy a long, quiet beach experience while swinging in a hammock. The grounds further back and up the hill are beautiful, with big baobab trees, well-established palms, flowering shrubs, and paths that connect the villas and suites. The center pool is very long and luxurious, and funky beats can be heard coming from the shades at the back.
Zuri is smart and stylish, with 56 suites set up in different ways, including bungalows with private pools, plunge pools, or just a few rooms, deluxe suites, and double or triple room villas. It’s bigger than the 12 room hotels but much smaller than the 200 room hotels. The main restaurant, the pool bar and grill, and a drink bar are the only places to eat right now. Soon, a new beach bar and restaurant will open. The spa and the yoga and exercise studio are especially beautiful. They have a beautiful smooth sprung floor that is open on all sides so you can enjoy the breeze and watch the sunset.
One of the best hotel libraries we’ve ever seen is in the lobby. It has a great selection of fiction and non-fiction books, picture books, and unusual printed materials that were all carefully chosen for the hotel. This curves around a popular, airy pool table, close to chairs, the drinking/sunset area, and the on-site doctor in case you need one.
In general, Zuri is a wonderful place for lovers and families alike, with plenty of room and a friendly vibe for both groups. The spot on Kendwa Beach is great for swimming and water sports, and you can also walk along the coast for a bit of exploration.
Because it is easy to get to, Zanzibar is a great place to go after a tour in either the north or south of Tanzania. If you are short on time, a Southern Tanzanai Itinerary is better because the internal flights are easier and faster. From Dar es Salaam, it’s easy to get to either the wet and green Selous or the dry and arid Ruaha, or you can fly from either of those places to Zanzibar. After a long, exciting trip with lots of late nights and early mornings, there’s nothing better than sipping a cool drink on the beach.
The two parks go well together when you add a beach break on top of them. The Selous has many waterways where you can see hippos and crocodiles lying in the sun up close. Ruaha is proud of its large numbers of elephants and buffalo.
Make sure you visit Stone Town, a culture city, while you’re in Zanzibar. There is also the choice to stay in the city itself, which is a great place to stop after your safari. The Park Hyatt is our top pick. From the busy markets to the bars on the roofs, visiting Stone Town is a lot of fun.
