Kichaka Lodge, Ruaha

Kichaka Lodge, Ruaha

Kichaka Lodge, Ruaha. What We Think. Andrew “Moli” Molinaro, one of Tanzania’s best-known guides, started Kichaka, which is still one of the most interesting camps in the country. He runs it with his partner Noelle Herzog. Kichaka’s two camps offer walking tours in the far northern parts of Ruaha National Park. They are small, luxurious, and in the middle of the wild. If you want to have an experience that is fully remote and alone, look no further.

The Truth About Kichaka Ruaha

Kichaka began as a simple, back-to-basics camp. It has changed over the years and is now split into two parts, Zumbua and Kidogo. We still love that place and hold it close to our hearts.

Zumbua has more nice things than the other one. There are three bandas and three beautiful suites, and every room has a beautiful view of the fields of Ruaha below. In addition to being a bit bigger, the rooms have their own private plunge pools, which are great for those hot Ruaha afternoons.

Some of the best views in Ruaha can be seen from the new lounge, bar, and eating area. The food is made with the freshest local ingredients and is very tasty. There is a Wi-Fi area, but this is where you come to relax and forget about your everyday life.

Kidogo, on the other hand, lets you enjoy Kichaka the way it used to be. To keep things simple, each guest has their own dome-shaped tent that fits ideally with Zumbua. This camp is right next to the Ruaha River, so you can get even closer to nature. Even though there aren’t any modern conveniences here, the food is still great, and the best part of an evening here is listening to your guide tell stories about the great Ruaha while watching “bush TV” and enjoying the sounds of the African desert.

Not only is Kichaka a unique place, but it also has guides who make it stand out. You will not be sorry if you decide to go for a walk with Moli. He is without a question one of the best guides on the continent, and you will learn a huge amount from him. From walking up to bigger animals on foot to getting to know the small details of a plant’s roots, your time at Kichaka will be one you’ll never forget.
