Kirurumu Serengeti North & South Camp

Kirurumu Serengeti North & South Camp

Kirurumu Serengeti North & South Camp. Kirurumu Serengeti Camp is one of the most affordable luxury mobile tented campgrounds in the Serengeti. It is a really good camp in its own right, but if you want to watch Mara River crossings without breaking the bank, this camp outperforms the competition. The luxury camping style allows you to relax in your (very) comfortable bed while immersing yourself completely in the atmosphere of the untamed Serengeti right outside your window.
Kirurumu Serengeti: The Facts

Over the course of a year, Kirurumu occupies three different areas in the Serengeti, despite the fact that two separate camps are in operation. The first camp is located in Seronera from June to November, where game viewing is consistently good. In December, it migrates down to Ndutu for calving season before packing up for April and May and starting over in Seronera. A second camp appears in Kogatende during the Mara River crossing season, which lasts from June to October. The camp is then decommissioned until June of the following year.

For the price, the camp is amazing. Although the price is comparable to a large souless hotel, Kirurumu Serengeti offers the polar opposite. The camp’s quality is only marginally lower than our favorite premium mobile tented camps. While many inexpensive but good lodges keep expenses low by having a large number of rooms, Kirurumu only has seven tents, which is less than most of our top mobiles.

The tents are elegantly designed in typical safari style and include an en-suite with a basin, toilet, and “safari shower”. Because of the camp’s small size, the expert staff members, some of whom have been there for over ten years, pay close attention to detail for each party and ensure that nothing is overlooked. You’ll also meet other visitors, and the smaller-than-average main area and shared sundowner fire pit create a terrific social vibe.

Kirurumu is owned by Hoopoe, a company we’ve known and trusted since we started many years ago. They are well-versed in their field and have always been praised for their excellent guiding and environmentally responsible practices. Kirurumu Serengeti Camp is no exception, providing all of these amenities as well as outstanding positions and excellent game watching for a very reasonable fee.

A typical Northern Tanzania itinerary would include an overnight stay in Arusha at Rivertrees before traveling to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Here, combining Kirurumu with either Farm House or Plantation Lodge for two nights is the ideal way to spend your safari. Spending a few days in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area allows you to explore Lake Manyara on your trip to the Crater bottom. The Ngorongoro Crater is a one-of-a-kind eco-system teeming with huge beasts from Africa. Opportunities to explore the local Masai villages provide insight into a genuinely amazing culture.

A journey to the island of Zanizbar is a must-do to round out your safari. With Tanzania’s excellent domestic aircraft routes, getting to the Indian Ocean island is simple. Pongwe Beach Hotel is a terrific alternative on the island, offering outstanding value for money. Apart from completing your stay on the beach, Zanzibar also allows you to spend a night or two in the cultural center of Stone Town. The Park Hyatt is the hotel of choice here. It is beautifully modern and elegant, and it is in the ideal location for enjoying both beach scenery and city life.
