Lamai Serengeti | Safari Camp. What We Think. Lamai Serengeti is a truly wonderful lodge. The service is some of the best in the area, and the quality is the best. Simple luxury is what a Nomad Camp is all about. It gives you luxury without all the glitz and glam that can take away from the real travel feel. From late July on, you can see migrating groups of animals crossing the plains of the Serengeti from this spot on the Kogakuria Kopje. With its unique style and great setting, it’s like a breath of fresh air compared to many fancy safari camps.

Nomad Lamai Serengeti: The Truth About It

Lamai is made into the rocks that make up the Kogatende region of the Serengeti and sits quietly on top of the famous Kopje. It is completely hidden from view. This Serengeti Safari area is in the northernmost part of Tanzania’s Serengeti and has some of the most beautiful scenery you could ask for.

The lodge is spread out among some huge rocks, and it has a view of the beautiful fields below. This is where most of the camp’s guests stay and eat. It’s right in the middle, very comfy, very nice, and made in a lovely, quirky safari style that makes you feel right at home. Summer and fall, the open fireplace is the focal point, but the round seating area with the best views from camp (maybe the lunch table by the pool is the real star of the show!) is what makes it stand out. It’s really a dream vacation spot! Another great thing about the lodge is the great service. The cook does a particularly great job.

There are rooms on both sides of the main area, and every one of them has a great view. But if we had to pick, the room at the top of the Kopje would be the best! The rooms are very big and are made of materials that are safe for the earth. With their huge beds and views of the fields, these rooms make getting up in the morning more enjoyable than ever. Some of them have lovely balconies where you can relax with a book, paint, or just take in the view of the incredibly different scenery. One of the most popular vacation spots.

Last but not least, it’s important to note that the guides at Lamai are the best in the business. Just like at all Nomad camps, their guides are trained to some of the best standards in East Africa, and the managers are often former guides who make sure the standards are always met.

Lamai is, of course, busiest when the groups of animals on their way south arrive in the Northern Serengeti in late July. Through the end of October and even into November, guests can watch the herds walk by camp. The famous river crosses at the Mara River are also close by—about a 30-minute game drive. Lamai is still a great place to visit, even when the horses aren’t there. During the shoulder seasons, this area doesn’t get as many tourists, so guests can enjoy a lot of resident animals all to themselves. Lower prices make for an unforgettable safari.
