Matemwe Retreat Asilia: The Specifics

On the northeastern side of Zanzibar, this retreat is made up of three very private and fancy houses. They are set up above the town of Matemwe, next to their sister lodge, the Matemwe Bungalows, in a bushy area that is away from everything else. From there, you can see the pretty island of Mnemba, the clear blue Indian Ocean, and the beaches that are so clean.

As a guest on a Tanzanian vacation or honeymoon, each hideaway is very fancy and gives its guests every comfort they could want. For the houses, there are two floors. The bedroom and bathroom are on the first floor. There is also a porch area in front of the house that has its own bar. The bedrooms have huge four-poster beds that are big enough for an elephant to sleep on on its honeymoon! There are beautiful, large bathrooms with tubs that can be opened up to enjoy the view.

The roof deck is what really makes this place stand out. It has a beautiful outdoor plunge pool with stunning views of the area and is the perfect spot to unwind and take it all in.

All of the guests at the resort have their own private maid who takes care of their every need. There isn’t a restaurant area because guests are urged to make their own menus and eat in the privacy of their own villas. If a couple needs company, they can go to the restaurant at Matemwe Bungalows.
