Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel. Very, very sad Ras Nungwi burned down in 2017, and we still don’t know if it will be rebuilt. The following was true about the old hotel:

In Ras Nungwi

Ras Nungwi is on the northern tip of the island and has a great beach that isn’t as busy as some of the other beaches on the island. It’s also only a short boat ride to some of the best places to dive and swim in Zanzibar. It takes about an hour to drive from Stone Town and the airport to the hotel. It’s a great trip to Tanzania in every way.

The eating areas, bar, and front desk are all inside the main building of the lodge, which is a huge structure with a Makuti thatched roof. The beach is reached by a walk that winds through the chalets. There is a lovely pool and a bar and dining area with a view of the beach.

There are three main types of rooms. The Garden Lodge rooms are at the back of the property. They are big and cheap, but they aren’t right on the beach. Superior Deluxe Chalets are closer to the beach and are a popular choice for honeymooners in Tanzania. The other two types are Superior Chalets and Superior Deluxe Chalets.

Ras Nungwi has a great water sports center where you can rent all the gear you need for diving, boats, deep sea fishing, and moref. Nungwi is a great place to stay for people who want to dive or swim in the Mnemba Atoll.
