Serengeti Sopa Lodge. What We Think. The Serengeti Sopa is a big hotel in the middle of the Serengeti. There is great domestic game in the area, making it a great place to stay any time of the year. This doesn’t have to be a bad thing, and the hotel does have a following of both families and big tour groups. For a smaller, more personal trip, though, it can feel a bit crowded, even though it’s in a good spot away from the busier parts of this central area.

The Serengeti Sopa is in the middle of the Serengeti, about a 30-minute drive from the Seronera airport. If you take the old way, it takes two hours to fly from Arusha to Seronera and four hours to fly from Dar es Salaam.

There are great views of the fields from the Serengeti Sopa, which is tucked away in an acacia forest on the edge of a cliff that looks out over the southwest Serengeti National Park. It’s great for moving from March to July and from November to January. A nice place to go on trek in Tanzania.

The main area is split up between inside and outside. There is a big pool and a bar outside that look out over the Serengeti. Inside, there is another bar and a very big dining area. For bigger business groups, there is a meeting center.

There is a general feeling of colorful comfort over uniformity in style. The restaurant has nice views, and the service is good. The restaurant serves a huge variety of local foods.

The rooms are spread out on either side of the common area. All of the rooms have air conditioning, good baths, and some have balconies.
