Siwandu Camp | Selous Game Reserve
Siwandu Camp | Selous Game Reserve. We believe that Siwandu is the best. It is in a great spot, has great guides, and has beautiful tents that offer all the comforts of home in a truly true way. It is tucked away among palm trees on the shore of Lake Nzerakera and has everything you could want for a safari vacation. It is our top choice for a tented camp in the Selous.
The Facts About Siwandu
In Nyerere National Park (formerly The Selous Game Reserve), Laba Siwandu Camp is set up on the edge of a calm lake. An easy way to get there from the beaches of Zanzibar is to take a 45-minute trip from Dar es Salaam.
There are two different parts of the camp, and each has its own swimming pool. This gives guests even more privacy. Another thing it does is let a group choose a side. All of the tents are set up along the sides of the river, which gives them great views of the animals coming to drink, especially the elephants that come here often (mostly for dinner!).
The tents are big and airy, and they have a beautiful style that makes you think of old safaris. They are incredibly soft in every way, making for a great stay. The sofa in front of the tent and the outdoor shower are also lovely additions. They make great places to relax between game drives. It’s a great place to spend your vacation in Tanzania.
A lot of the guides have worked in the Selous Game Reserve (now Nyerere National Park) for years and know the place very well. You can use them on the water, on land, or when you’re setting up your tent under the stars. The boats have an extra engine that is driven by the sun. This lets you glide up to a perched kingfisher or a wallowing buffalo without scaring the animal.
A typical day includes a game activity in the morning and an activity in the afternoon. You can play on foot, by boat, or from an open-sided car. For those of you who like to fish, there is also a spot of fishing. For added fun, the twenty-minute drive from the airport to the camp always seems like a great way to start! The trip starts as soon as you set down here.
Siwandu and the Selous are great places to start your trek in Southern Tanzania. From here, Ruaha is a place that you have to see. In the Selous, there are lush, colorful landscapes with waterways that go on forever. In Ruaha, on the other hand, it is dry and rough, and big groups of elephants and buffalo live there. Selous and Ruaha are great for each other because their environments are so different from each other.
If you want to praise Siwandu, look no further than Jongomero. Jongomero is a fixed tent camp in the south of Ruaha that is hours away from any other camp. It is also owned by Laba Laba, which used to be called The Selous Safari Company. In this remote area, you can see wildlife up close and personal, and you’ll have a unique experience.
You can’t go wrong by going to the coast to end your trip in Southern Tanzania. After a long, exciting trip with lots of early starts and late nights, there’s nothing better than having a drink on the beach and watching the sun go down. Fanjove Private Island, which lets you walk around barefoot in style, is a great place to go with this.
