When to go to the Mahale Mountains. When is the best time to visit Mahale in Tanzania?

Most people who go on vacation to Tanzania want to either go on a trek or to the beach, or both. In general, the best time to go on safari in Tanzania is during the dry season, which lasts from July to October and is hot and dry. The animals are easier to see because the bushes aren’t as thick when the parks dry out.

This is because the animals have to gather around the few watering holes that are left. In November, there are short rains that sometimes last into December, January, and March. In April and May, there are long rains. But that doesn’t mean that December, January, and February aren’t still great months to visit Tanzania…

When it comes to Mahale, there are other things that are more important than coming here. To see the beautiful Mahale Mountain Chimpanzees is the main reason to go to Mahale. Now, over the past 20 years, we’ve had a huge number of people trek to see these amazing primates, and none of them have come back without seeing them. But there are some things to think about. The chimps live higher up the mountain during Tanzania’s dry season in June and July.

This is a great time to visit if you like trekking and are in good health, but if you’re not as fit, you should visit Mahale around Christmas or from October to February. There will be short rainstorms during this time, though. Based on our data, February is probably the best month to visit for people who aren’t very fit. Most of the year, it’s 30 degrees, and at night, it’s only 17 degrees, so you don’t need to bundle up, even though you are in the mountains.
