Kigelia Camp, Ruaha

Kigelia Camp, Ruaha

Kigelia Camp, Ruaha. What We Think. Kigelia is an eco-friendly, back-to-basics camp run by Nomad. The camp is great for everyone because it fits in well with its surroundings and has great guides. It has a pretty simple look, but the good quality is clear the whole time you’re there, making it a great choice for a Ruaha safari.

The Truth About Kigelia Camp

The common area is just a canvas and wood frame with some couches and coffee tables. It’s small and cute, and it doesn’t try to be fancy. A cabinet for drinks and shelves are there. A big wood table and chairs will be brought in for meals.

You can also eat in the bush or on the bank of a river under the stars. After dinner, you can have a few drinks around the fire. It’s the best way to end a day of seeing wildlife in one of Africa’s wildest and least tamed places.

There are only six rooms at Kigelia, and they are all set back from the other rooms by the dry bed of the Ifuguru River, so you have a lot of privacy. The tents are big, and in typical Meru way, they have big beds and a roomy area in the middle where you can store things. The toilets, which have a flush toilet, are at one end of the tents. The bucket showers are outside, and the sink is very basic, with a big jug of water next to it instead of running water.

Kigelia is based on the idea that simple things should be enjoyed. There aren’t any extras here; what you see is what you get. There are also family rooms for people traveling with a bigger group.

Walking treks and game drives are what you can do at Kigelia. The guides are some of the best in Tanzania, and the cars have everything shooters need. At the very least, it was a great Kudu Safari!

Because Ruaha is the size of a small country and has only a few hotels, it is one of the best places in Tanzania to see wildlife in its natural state. During the dry season, huge groups of buffalo gather, and epic fights between them and the roaming lions are often events that would make a great documentary. Ruaha is a great place for anyone who loves animals. It has a lot of elephants and also some rarer and harder to find animals like the aardwolf, serval, and lesser kudu.

It is definitely possible to combine Kigelia with another camp in Ruaha. We would choose Jongomero because it is far away in the south of the park and there are no other camps nearby, so you can watch wildlife in peace and quiet.
